Positively Positive Postastic Tuesday.

May 13, 2008

I found it very convenient that the day that the subject of this post left Miami to go back home after living here for 4 months, was today. Tuesday. Positive Post Tuesday. So it only makes sense that I write about this person. Who is this exactly? Well, it’s no other than my amazing friend, Sarah Benson.

SARUUUUH. She arrived in Miami on January 12th, I think. I had heard that she was coming and that we was gonna be interacting with the youth and stuff. I was glad that I was going to meet someone new, and my youth pastor and his wife like this girl a lot so I knew she was pretty cool, but I didn’t really expect to get as close as we did. On the first Sunday that she came to church, I’m pretty sure I said the typical, “Hello.” but nothing more than that. Remember when I mentioned that she knew my youth pastor [Nic] and his wife [let's call her Laura, because that's her name]? Well Laura invited some of the girls from the youth group over to their house to hang out with Sarah and get to know her. Once again, I said hello, and I’m pretty sure I added my name in there somewhere. I’m a very chatty person [duh], so I had no problem with small talk. And she would laugh at all my jokes, so she automatically got cool points for that. She then told me that I looked like America Ferrera, only prettier, so she got more cool points for the compliment. I then started talking about more personal stuff with this pretty much complete stranger, but it didn’t really feel weird and she seemed to listen and care. The cool points just kept racking up. We ate chips, ate some cookies, drank some Gatorade and then we watched The Ultimate Gift (dejavu, anyone?). We laughed, we [almost] cried, and had a good time. And this Sarah character just seemed extremely cool.
After spending some time with us girls, Sarah decided that she was going to start a bible study with us every Friday [remember this? look at 2nd paragraph] and I got excited just to interact with this girl who listened and laugh at all my jokes. The first study was great, and I even showed her some Rhett and Link, who she loves, just like the rest of the world! A couple weeks after we got to interact at church, and she talked to my mom and stuff, she started coming to my house every Wednesday to learn some Spanish, and she would just hang out with my sister and I. Those were the best. So yes, as you can probably tell, we got very close. She’s just one of those people that I can spill to and she gets it because she’s been there. Sure she’s 10 years older than I am, but that’s why I liked being around her. I like having mature conversations. But that does not mean we did not have our crazy moments. Actually, some of the silliest moments of my life were shared with her. Some of you have heard about our muffin song. Yes we’re silly, silly people. We would listen to weird, trippy music when she drove me places and sometimes she would start dancing. We also had some creepy encounters with strange men while driving, but that’s just because Sarah’s so pretty. And we never got attacked, so it was pretty funny. We played guitar together once, which was fun because she taught me how to ‘cheat’ and it was just fun to play with someone else for once.
As much as I would like to, I could never list all the great moments we’ve had or all the inside jokes we have together. And I could never describe all the good qualities she has. Just know that she is a great person. It was tough to let her go yesterday when she visited me for the last time, I mean I was bawling. Haha. but I know that she’s gonna do great things in Central America, Africa, Chicago, Wisconsin, Tampa, and anywhere else God decides to send her. We already have plans to visit each other and make muffins and everything. Maybe even make cupcakes and write a song about THEM.
